The thing is this. Over the many years of my life, I've written tons of stuff. At one time it was sermons (!), and journalism - reviews, reports, articles.
Over the past 22 years, I have written many plays, mostly one-acts, and a handful of full length plays.
And during the last 12 years, I have also been writing computer program specifications, or help documentation. Gripping stuff!
But I never got round to writing the books I most of all wanted to write. The only vague excuse I can offer is that it's hard to concentrate one's mental energies on more than one major thing at a time when time itself is somewhat limited. And as I got older, time became even more constrained by lack of energy!
Well, boo-hoo! Let's get over this and get the job done before senility kicks in.
I just published my first ever proper book: Seasonings - Eleven short plays for the Holiday Season. There's a pun in there somewhere. It will require some effort to market this somewhat niche book.
Next to come off the press will by no means be niche. And since I'm addressing the matter of religion (let me leave this vague for now) I anticipate I will stir up considerable controversy. The book is well mapped out already and Chapter 1 is almost complete. I am aiming for about 12 chapters. 12 x 5,000 words = 60,000 words. Ah - that's barely a book! Buy then I do want people to read all of it. So we'll see.
And you could help. If you are an ex-pastor I would be very interested to hear your story. If you are a church drop-out, I would love to hear from you.
